Why am I receiving an error when trying to create an account?
Last updated: July 29, 2026
If you're experiencing errors or issues during the Halo signup process, there are a few common causes and solutions to try before reaching out to support.
Email Domain Not Accepted
The Halo signup form validates email addresses and may reject certain email domains that are not recognized as company or university domains. Personal email domains may be declined during the automated signup process.
If your email address is being rejected, contact Halo Customer Support (support@halo.science)
"Complete Signup" Button Is Unresponsive
If the Complete Signup button is not lighting up or responding when clicked, make sure all mandatory fields have been filled in correctly. For Startup accounts, the following fields are required:
Company name
Company website
Company location
What is your job title?
Which disciplines are most relevant to your work?
What is your expertise?
The question "To help us improve, tell us how you initially heard about Halo" is optional and does not need to be completed.
Company Website Field Formatting
A common cause of signup failures is an incorrectly formatted entry in the Company website field. This field requires a properly formatted domain that includes a valid extension (e.g., .com, .org). Entering values like "N/A" or plain text without a domain extension will prevent the signup from completing.
Note that the website does not need to an active site — it simply needs to follow a valid domain format. For example: mycompany.com.
Changing Your Password After Account Creation
If you've logged in with a temporary password and need to set a new one, navigate to your profile settings by clicking your profile icon in the top right corner and selecting Account Settings. You will find the option to reset your password there.
